If you’ve been spending hours at the gym every week, working your butt off trying to lose the flab and get that ‘lean and toned physique’… this may come as a bit of a shock.
There’s a good chance you are spending way more time working out than you really need to in order to get results. Even worse, working out too much and too hard may actually be causing you to gain weight!
Or maybe you’re exactly the opposite. You just can’t find the time to fit long, regular workouts into your busy schedule.
One of the biggest issues I get when people come to me is that they simply don’t have the time to work out, says fitness & lifestyle expert John Rowley.
Whether you are working out for hours on end without any visible results or you can’t find the time to exercise at all, here’s some good news…
You probably don’t have to spend nearly as much time working out as you think you do in order to burn fat, get toned, build lean muscle and develop the kind of body that turns heads wherever you go.
In fact, according to Rowley, you can have the body of your dreams, reverse the aging process and do it all within 90 minutes a week… if you work out in a certain way.
A bold claim, for sure!
To prove it Rowley took a group of ten people and worked with them for a period of six months. The main requirement for participants was that they had to be obese.
The only thing he had them do was work out with him three times a week. They did these short workouts on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
All participants went from being obese to shedding so much body fat that they could actually see their abs again.
Now these were all busy people who had full-time jobs and had to make the time in their schedules to fit those three 30 minute workouts in.
Not only were they in better shape than they had ever been after those two months. The added energy, improved self-image and the positive mindset the workouts were giving them was causing major improvements in their working and social lives.
The bottom line, says Rowley, is you can have the body of your dreams and you can do it the minimal amount of time.
So, what is the method Rowley used to get these people into the best shape of their lives in just 90 minutes per week?
The answer is moderate weight/high fatigue resistance training. It’s a type of training that combines weight training with cardio, building muscle and burning fat at the same time.
This workout method is also great for people over 40, as it maximizes muscle activity while minimizing stress on your joints.
If you’re interested in experiencing this method for yourself, Rowley has taken this program and it put it into an organized package, called Old School New Body, which he co-created with Steve and Becky Holman.
Whether you look at that program mentioned above or just get into your own program, three days a week doing resistance training will help you build lean muscle, restore your metabolism, burn calories and get a leaner, stronger body, says Rowley.
President Kennedy once said that physical fitness is not only the key to a healthy body, but it’s the basis of dynamic and creative intellectual activity.
So, if nothing else, start doing some resistance training three times per week for 30 minutes.
It doesn’t matter whether you go to the gym, buy a set of dumbbells or a kettlebell and work out from home. You can even get great results by only doing bodyweight exercises. Whatever the equipment, the important thing is to start using those muscles.
