More than 2 billion people worldwide suffer from fatty liver to some extent… most of them without knowing it.
After your brain, your liver is the most important organ you have. It performs over 800 functions in your body such as eliminating toxins and regulating glucose, blood pressure, blood sugar, insulin, estrogen and testosterone.
If you’re overweight, there’s a good chance you also have excess fat in your liver as well. As a matter of fact, fatty liver might even be one of the reasons you’re having difficulty losing weight!
As you might have guessed, your liver is an organ you really want to look after. The good news is that fatty liver is reversable 99% of the time.
Here is what Dr. Eric Berg DC claims is one of the best shakes to clean your liver…
This liver cleansing smoothie consists of three different vegetables:
Kale has 500 milligrams of potassium per cup. Potassium is good for the liver and gallbladder. Kale also helps detoxify your body and reduces inflammation.
Cut the tops of the beets and freeze them. Beet tops have 1300 milligrams of potassium per cup. , a lot of iron.
Parsley has a tremendous amount of vitamin A, magnesium, zinc. Like kale and beet tops it is also high in potassium.
TIP: You can freeze all of these vegetables, that way they can last months. Just stick them right in the ice box and freeze them.
All these veggies are very bitter, so this smoothie might take some getting used to for some people.
How to make the liver cleansing smoothie
To make this liver detox smoothie simply put mainly kale (two or three handfuls , some beet tops and parsley into a blender. Next add water until your greens are completely covered.
If this is too bitter for you you can add a hand full of blueberries or strawberries or even some (liquid) stevia.
Blending this will result in a brownish green colored smoothie because you’re mixing green and red from the beets. It might not look very appetizing… but your liver will thank you for it!
Drink one of these smoothies in the morning and another one somewhere between lunch and dinner. Don’t drink this before you go to bed, as you’ll be up all night peeing. Because of the high potassium content it acts as a diuretic.
