Thermoccino – Metabolism Boosting Smoothie For Coffee Lovers

Thermocinno smoothieThis thermoccino smoothie recipe is great for coffee lovers who want to kick their metabolism into high gear. It’s really easy to make and tastes amazing. Now you can enjoy your morning coffee and burn fat at the same time.

The thermoccino was a last minute addition to the Metabolic Cooking program.

This smoothie is great for kick-starting your metabolism in the morning. Because of the high protein content it’s also a great post workout smoothie.

The Thermoccino

  • 1 cup of cold espresso
  • 1 cup of Greek yoghurt
  • teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1/3 teaspoon of Stevia (optional)
  • 30 grams of protein powder
  • 5 ice cubes

Espresso: Of course it wouldn’t be a coffee lovers smoothie without a good cup of strong espresso. The reason it had to be cold is to give it that metabolic effect. This is also why you add the ice cubes. Essentially you are lowering your body temperature by drinking the cold smoothie. Your body then has to expend energy to raise its temperature to the normal level.

Greek Yoghurt: This gives the smoothie a creamy texture. It’s also a great source of protein.

Cinnamon is proven for its metabolism boosting effects. It also has many other health benefits like balancing your blood sugar levels, reducing hunger and boosting your immune system. And, of course, it tastes great!

Stevia is a great natural sweetner. If you usually put sugar in your coffee then Stevia is a good alternative. If you drink your coffee without sugar (like I do) you can skip the stevia altogether.

Protein powder: Protein is an essential building block for your muscles. It helps repair your muscles after a workout and to keep muscle mass intact. Muscle mass plays an important role in keeping your metabolism revved. Protein also has a satiating effect that helps curb your appetite and keeps you feeling full for longer.

Ice Cubes: As mentioned above, the ice cubes serve the purpose of lowering your body temperature when you drink the Thermoccino. It’s what makes this smoothie – as the authors of Metabolic Cooking put it – metabolicious.
