1: Stack up on low energy density foods
Rule number one is to start eating more low energy density foods. Low energy density means a small amount of calories for a high volume of food.
Foods you should focus on eating as much of as possible are non starchy vegetables, broccoli, asparagus, leafy greens like spinach and kale as well as low sugar fruits like berries and citrus fruits. Broth-based soups with herbs and spices are also great and, if you’re looking for a low calorie snack, a really good one is air-popped popcorn.
Your absolute best strategy for weight loss is to focus as much as possible on eating these foods low energy density, high nutrient foods. You’ll nog only be reducing your calorie intake but also packing your meals with antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and fiber!
2: Eat what you love
Rule number two is to eat what you love. There’s no point trying to stick to a diet, say paleo or keto, if you don’t like meat or low-carb or if your favorite foods are rice and pasta and bread.
If you’re not eating foods that you really enjoy and look forward to eating there’s no way you’re going to be able to stick to this diet. If you hate the foods a certain diet is making you eat it’s probably not going to work for you, no matter how good a diet it is!

However, if you go out to eat in a restaurant or at someone’s house there’s natural limits imposed on you because you can only eat what you’re served.
So, if you go out to a restaurant or go out to someone’s house just make it a free meal. Eat whatever you feel like eating. Eat your favorite foods and really enjoy yourself. As long as you only splurge one time per week you will lose weight. Consider this your reward for sticking to the other rules for the rest of the week.
Rule number six is to move your body. Now, food is by far the most important factor in the weight loss equation. You can lose weight without doing any exercise at all. But, for maximum success and to lose weight as quickly and painlessly as possible – not to mention maintaining a strong and healthy body – it’s a good idea to get more active.
This doesn’t mean that you have to go crazy and do some insane amount of working out every day. It just means do more activity than you’re currently doing.
